Scale rot or blisters, on my new red blood..more

fishkiller May 25, 2003 12:41 PM

Well I went searching on line and found that those bumpy scales could be a case of over humidity or wetness. My new red blood had a few scales down the back of his neck that were turning brown, and one had completely dried out to nothing. The recomended remedy was to clean it out with 50%water and 50% hydrogen peroxide. Then to use some polysporin twice daily. So thats what I'm trying right now.Hopefully it works. If this little devil would ever stay still I would make my job easier, he's a fiesty one, but hasn't bit yet.But you can tell he wants to though.I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it without using the pet hobby as my free account ran out. Later, Ethan

I had a similiar problem with my Malaysian blood. Gave him a himidity box area with damp moss and the rest of the cage is dry. With each shed the blisters will go away when provided with a humid but not wet environment. Good luck-Bill.
