Here is an update on the new line of L. t. gaigeae (aka Black milk). Only three months have gone by but this new locality line is tipping in pretty well.

Most black milks in the states are from San Antonio zoo stock, great line too. These gaigeae are fresh from Puerto Limon, Costa Rica.

Okay, I admit it's difficult to detect the subtle change in color in only three months, but they have gotten quite a bit bigger over the last few months.
And, yes they do come from all black parents.

Awesome Dell!,........

I've heard about that new bloodline, and have been waiting to see one from it for a while, very nice indeed. I just NEW that was a neonate gaigeae you posted earlier, but didn't add any caption to it..LOL!

That thing's startin' to sweeten-up already I see too!

Nice to have some new blood in the gaigeae neighborhood, and look forward to seeing more progression shots later on too.

Just curious, what does it take to import snakes (especially milks) from Costa Rica? Assuming you can find/collect what you're looking for. I'm sure there's tons of red tape.
My wife and I honeymooned in CR. I hoped to see some Hondurans and eyelash vipers, but none showed. We did see some awesome sea snakes on the beach.

Very cool... looks like the white band at the top/back of its head has already filled in, that's a good start. Are its eyes unusually light colored, or does it just look that way because of the lighting? The iris on this one looks reddish brown to me, seems like they're usually very dark brown, barely distinguishable from the pupil.

Are you sure those are true blacks?! (Tongue in cheek) A very exciting project there... nice to see some animals from the other coast 'represented!'
