Question - breeding sunglow to albino

S_E_E Oct 22, 2009 11:59 AM

I have heard that it is not a good idea to breed an albino boa to another albino, but does that work the same way with a sunglow to an albino? As far as deformities and problems go, would that pairing be as high risk as an albino x albino pairing? I wasn't sure if the hypo gene in there would help or not...

We have always tried to outcross as much as possible, even if it results in less desirable litters. We have never bred an albino to another albino, instead breeding it with a het or a normal for healthier, stronger babies. In this case, we have a nice large female albino that we are planning to put a Hypo Het Albino Het Type II Anery with. We also have a very nice sunglow that will not be too busy this year and were maybe thinking about reconsidering pairings. I don't want the babies to come out severely deformed and genetically compromised because of it. I just want to know what others experiences are with this.

Any input?

Thank you,
Anya Makashova

If you do not want to breed albino to albino, then you do not want to breed albino to sunglow, too.
