Unknown Type Grayband

NYCMedic Oct 22, 2009 04:03 PM

What if anything can anyone tell me about this grayband. i know she is approx 5y/o and female. Is it possible to tell her locality just by looking at her. Are these dark features a sought after trait in the grayband world. I have never seen one so dark as this one.
Thanx

Where did you get that snake? I sold one that looked exactly like that here in NY, but it was a male.. Are you 100% sure that it's a female??

Me and my friend bought it at a melville show about 5-6 yrs ago from a guy from forest hills queens. Its definitely a female, she was housed with a larger male corn recently and she was rubbing up against him for weeks but he wanted nothing to do with her. i am in the process of getting her a mate now.

It is a nice dark phase, many people like them when they pretty much turn black like that. As for locality, if you do not know, and can not get that from the breeder then any guess would just be that, a guess. And without knowing the locality as a fact you would have to call her a generic.

Based on looks it could be from 277, Juno, Sanderson, sheffield, fort lancaster, or many more places. It is a safe bet that the animal is from central or eastern part of the range, but that is the difference between knowing and guessing.

Like Lance and others have said, without known locality date (and is some cases even with known local data) your snake would be a nice looking Generic Altera.

I dont recall a Melville show 5 years ago?? i think Bruce started his Melville show 2 years ago?? Do you recall if the name of the person from Forrest Hills you got this animal from was Eric??

Also, has the snake been probed or are you assuming it is female because your corn snake was trying to breed it?

I am only asking because i am pretty sure this snake was in my collection and i sold it locally here in ny, but it was a male..

The show was at a Hilton hotel approx 5-6 yrs ago.i am pretty sure it was melville but I might be mistaken about the town But it definitely was a a Hilton just north of the LIE in that general area. It was a pretty small show i remeber my wife didnt even have time to finish 1 drink at the hotel bar while waiting for me to do the rounds. I dont recall the guys name but he was in his early 20's and asian. I have seen her sexed more than once and am pos its a female.
