STOURBRIDGE NEWS (UK) 15 September 03 Tortoise pines for stolen pal
The hunt is on for a five-year-old tortoise that was stolen from a Brierley Hill pensioner yesterday (Sunday).
Two youths snatched the creature from a garden in Eastern Avenue, Hawbush, at around 3pm on Sunday September 14.
They also attempted to steal a 50-year-old tortoise called Barney, but dropped him after being disturbed by a neighbour.
Barney was returned to his 74-year-old owner - but the younger tortoise is still missing.
Pc Dana Newey, from Kingswinford Police Station, is leading the hunt for the two youths and is appealing for the safe return of the tortoise.
She said: "Barney is pining for his young friend. I would ask that residents in the area lookout for a discarded tortoise or if they have any information as to the identity of the youths to contact me at The Brook police office on 01384 818839."
