What's your take on....

Tristan Oct 23, 2009 04:05 PM

This little lady hatched out of a lesser pastel x pastel breeding but I don't know what to make of her.

She doesn't look like a pastel to me, but doesn't look like a normal either. She has oranges coming from her sides and covering most of her dorsal.

What's your opinion?

It really just looks like a pretty normal.

She looks Normal to me too.
A lot of the Normals & Hets that I've hatched, had the orange, when they were babies.

Good luck with her, and the rest of the clutch!

btw - what else was in the clutch?

Thanks for your input guys, I figured she was a nicely colored normal. But who knows, I will keep her and raise her up anyway.

The rest of the clutch was pretty disappointing. It was lesser pastel male bred to pastel female. There were 8 eggs laid, but only 5 fertile.

Out of the 5, 3 eggs hatched, which were 2 normals and one super pastel female.

But... the disappointing part was that the other two eggs were a super pastel that was fully formed but dead in the egg. I found out by cutting it because it did not hatch on its own after 3 days.

The other one was a frankenstein lesser pastel. It was alive, but was kinked out with no face (i.e., no eyes or mouth). I did not take pics, but it was pretty weird looking!

I hatched a couple like that from a pastel X normal pairing this season. The above posters are right, it is just a nice-looking normal, but I admit they gave me pause as well....

I agree with the other posts...it looks like a pretty normal. I have hatched several normals that have the orange sides when they firs come out
