A LITTLE RETIC HISTORY

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Oct 24, 2009 05:04 AM

Here is a pic of the FIRST Calico Retic ever imported into the United States. Dang sold her to me in the early 1980's. A little later I aquired a male and bred them and produced ALL normal babies. I thought that it wasn't genetic so I exported them to the Granby Zoo in Montreal, Quebec. For those of you into Retics you now know how they first came here and who originated the name. That's my late friend Dang in the pic with me...

Wow very pretty snake. I know lots of different calico's have been imported and bred over the years has the genetics of this been proven yet? I know it possibly sexed linked in females and randomly shows up around 2yrs old. So what does all that mean...

I honestly don't know and I've heard a lot of different stories...I'm just showing you the FIRST one to be imported and I bred them but got ALL normal looking young. The male wasn't nearly as nice as the one in the pic and I was never sure if it was the same. All I can say is ALL my babies looked normal...
