Introducing the Opal Diamond ball

bigdaddyballroom Oct 24, 2009 08:31 AM

These are the super form of breeding a phantom to a vin russo het white diamond together. Just hatched this pair out and will get more pics after they shed. These guys look similar to the mystic potions but with more gold on the top and a faded pattern look on the sides. Can't wait to mix these with the pastel phantoms in the future.
Thanks and hope you enjoy Allen Belcher 706-615-4772

Allen,

Congrats. Those look great. What a nice surprise. I like how subtle their features are. I wonder how they'll look over time. I'm so glad I'm in the phantom/mystic project. You never know what you're going to get when you cross them with something.

Thanks to all and I would like to say that the title Opal Diamond was generated like this. Opal for the colors in the actual opal stone and this snake. And the word diamond goes with the russo version of the het white diamond. I will have post shed pics once available.
Thanks again Allen Belcher 706-615-4772

They are nice snakes, and congratulations on the cross. One thing though...

How is it an "opal Diamond", when the Opal is another name for Super Pastel in Ball Pythons, and there is no Pastel in the mix?

I have never heard the super pastel called an opel, but I have heard of a super woma being called a pearl....anyone have any pics of a pearl???

toshamc Oct 24, 2009 03:10 PM

Someone thought it would be cute to give the super pastel the opal name - it hasn't caught on.

The super hidden gene woma is the pearl and it's fatal so there aren't a lot of pictures floating around.

Corey Woods named one of his Red Axanthic combos -- may have been Super Pastel Red? Brian B. has a melanistic "Opal" animal as well. Might be 5 or 6 six others out there as well??? lol

Back in the day.

The Super Pastel were first named the Opal. At that time, no one knew for sure, if it was a super pastel or not.

The name didn't take and the super pastel term kept being used.

Corey Woods, is still using both name as far as I know. well, I would think he is Old School

But go ask Greg Graziani or VPI what they name their super pastel
