Adult Ball Rack System? Do I need bigger

skyfire_1 Oct 25, 2009 10:53 AM

Ut, oh. I have three Ball Pythons currently in a Rack System, but after seeing a few large Ball Pythons I do not think what I have will be large enough for them when they get that size.

What I currently have is the 32 Qt. / 30L Tub. (Roughly 22" X 15". Would these be large enough to house Adult Ball Pythons in a couple of years?

If not, is there a good Rack System out there for Adults?

This is controversial. I myself keep all my adult balls in cb70 size tubs. But some folks out there insist that 32 qt. are adequate. certainly successful breeding occurs in both sizes.

I would at least house females over 3000 gms in cb70s-Vision makes very efficient and affordable racks in this size-if you have a bit more cash to spend then I like the ARS racks.

I have to agree with Brad. Everyone has their own opinion on size of tub needed. Personally I house my adult females and males in 41qt system with great success. I use Boaphiles Ball room racks for my collection.

I personally do not like the open systems like ARS or Visions as temps in the room need to be regulated. With the ball room racks the temp in the room can change dramatically but the temps in the tubs stay where they need to be. Also I have not had a bad shed with my rack, humidity is never an issue.

You be the judge if you feel 32qt is not big enough then go to 41qt or Vision CB70.

I temporarily put one of my adults into a 32 qt so you can have a feel for how one would fit. I personally feel this is too small for an adult. By the time you would put in a water bowl there wouldn't be much room for them to move around, and would be hard for them to thermoregulate.

We have the ARS systems and have been very happy with them. I believe their tubs are 5.25"h x 17"w x 33"d and have been a good size for our adults. Although, I do not have any 3500g females.

i have a budy that uses 28qt tubs and has no problems.....
now with that said i decided to go with the 41 qt sterilite containers. it gives them more room and allows for bigger water bowls. many that have monster balls 2500gram and larger use even bigger tubs.
i would upgrade to atleast the 41 qt tubs if i were you

I use 28qt rubbermaids, and they work just fine, My biggest snake is 3500g as of right now.

In the wild, ball pythons live in burrows. I will eventually upgrade to cb-70s when space and finances allow.

Hi,

My rack is made of 32qt tubs but I plan on getting something bigger for the bigger females. Some are starting to outgrow it. I would say under 3000g it's fine but after.

But at the same time, I have some smaller one that are in 12qt ones, just cause when they are moved to bigger tub, they stop feeding and get stress. So I just hope, not the same thing happen.

You can still made a rack for the bigger ones. You just need to find the right tub. I saw people using big tubs from hardware store. Look at www.A1pythons.com facility, you should see big black tub with a screen in the front. I think this is perfect.
