Yes, I do it for the same reason you mentioned...space! You are fine to brumate multiple animals together, even same sex.

That's a cool photo Dave. You even got their tongue's going at the same time!
Thanks Joe. I'd like to say I planned it that way but it was completely dumb luck!

** Boy do I know what ya mean there!,...I've tried to capture the red tongue on an Everglades Rat I have before, and it took zillions of tries because of the long annoying delay on my digital camera between the time I saw the tongue flick out, to hitting the shutter button, and it actually taking the pic..LOL!
I even "tried" to anticipate when it would flick it out, and was still JUST as annoying to actually capture the shot. I even waved my hand all in front of it to get it to respond and it NEVER flicked it's tongue when I thought it would,.....what a royal pain that photo session was..LOL!
Out of about 50 shot's, I might have gotten one or two half-assed tongue shots, I finally just started shooting totally at random and hoped for the best without much success..LOL!
That is a real cool pic you got of those,...almost a mirror image of one another..LOL!

Hey Doug...here's how I got lucky...that pic I took was during brumation...I was giving them fresh water and they were sitting like that and stayed nice and still with tongues out! 55 degrees can slow that tongue down a lot! lol
Dave
HAHAHA!,...you have a good point..LOL!

I press the camera button halfway down to prefocus and just wait. It got me these:

Those are awesome shots!
Yeah, I was doing that too, but my camera apparently has a much longer delay before it actually takes the pic. It's a great camera, but certain things suck about it.
Yes, very cool tongue pics for sure.

cool pics!!
Brumate them all together.
If you brumate females in with them, you might see a male and female pair off and stay close together - easier to notice in a large cage used for cooling.
Cooling pairs together or multiple females and males together results in far better fertility IMO.

In some species of Lampropeltis if you brumate males together in a group with females the males will fight each other. I always brumate my males seperate or with the females I plan to breed them to. That being said I've never tried to brumate Honduran males together but I would assume the same would be true.
