I bought the plastic 24x12x12 cages, cut a hole on top of each for a 5 1/2 inch reflector and also installed a light fixture for low-wattage incandescent bulbs.

I like using CHEs in the reflectors. I know heat pads are more efficient (7 watts vs a ceramic bulb) but I prefer the type of heat ceramics put out. The snakes will bask and not dry out with ceramics. Even a mostly under-the-surface snake like a milksnake.

So are these shelving units you painted or did you find white ones?

Just curious I have some seafoam green and brown units I'd like to paint.

BTW when you said "cage rack" I pictured a shelving unit with cages sitting on trays with drawer slides...way to get my hopes up Mark.

Good, I was targeting you.. lol

To make you feel better, that was my original intent with these units, to add drawer slides on top of each fixed shelf, and have another shelf with cage slide on it. I have two spare shelf boards ready for that. Its finding the glides I need.

I found these small Gorilla racks in off-white. Powder-coated.

Thanks, Didn't know they did powdercoated racks...nice start.
