What do you guys use on your lamps as a dimmer/rheostat? I'm trying to find something i can splice in line without using a wall box.

All the big box stores sell plug in rheostats or dimmers with a male plug on one end and female on the other. Typically the female is a muilti jack housing. Just ask or look around they are about 15" or so long.

I have spliced dimmers in-line for several of the cages my wife and I have. I recently found this at Home Depot and got one I still need to use it but it is priced very well and should handle most lights/heating elements that would be used.

Ok thanks. I saw the ones with the male/female ends but they were $20 and 1 need 15. The spliced in ones are what i'm looking for. My Lowes didn't have them so i'll check Home Depot

Can it be used with flexwatt tape in my animal plastic's rack for a short time use? I can't get a herpstast yet. Right now if I just plug in the heat tape it's wayyy too hot so for about a couple of months now I had to just not use the heat and 4 of my snakes are not eating due to cooling but wanted those youngster to keep pounding on food so they can keep growing.

I actually use a dimmer on my heat pad for one of my snakes. With out the dimmer it is around 150 Degrees and I have it turned down to 90 Degrees with the dimmer. It is based on the ambient temperature in the room as the room gets hotter so does the temperature of the heat pad.
