ovulation? could it be?

TimS Oct 26, 2009 01:38 PM

I think i would call this ovulation lol this is my first shot at breeding boas (more of a python kind of guy) and well this pair has been courting non stop since introduction and there has been a few poss copulations also. well anywhos this girl has been slightly swelled for alil while now but nothing serious and today when i went to go check on water i decided to peek in on them also. I lifted the hide i have for them aka the giant cat litter box lol and seen some serious swelling. I think is ovulation. What do you gys think??? ovulation or no???

Could be, always easier to see/tell in person and when you know the snake's "normal" look. Record teh "swell" and look for either a shed or another even larger swell in 1 - 3 weeks.

Thanks for your input Dave, I am waiting to see if she gets any larger or has another big swell or a shed. I just wanted to see what others thought. I just wanna make sure I am on the right track Even if it isnt full out ovulation yet I am still very stoked for this breeding to be going this well lol. I call it beginners luck but hey I'll take it.

ps. my one ball python decided not to eat so Electra got her first meal here and took F/T like a champ. Daffy will get his first meal next week. I am sure he will be just as happy as Electra when it comes to the rat pops I feed lol

I like her she's a pretty Gal. To me it looks to be more than pre -ov swelling
It does look alot like an ovulation to me , I haven't actually
witnessed all that many though.
I always missed them , for several years

The male in the top picture is still actively courting. Leave him in for another week or two at least.

Thanks,
the STP's are doing good but taking a break, the male went into shed and decided he would like to be left alone durring this time so i put him back in his own cage until he sheds.
He is so funny when not in shed tho, he "walks" around the cage untill his tail is on the girly. yes walks lol he slithers along and has his lil spurs scratchin away walkin along lol its sooo funny. I will be cleaning cages and all of a sudden hear a faint scratching noise and sure enough there he is tickling the paper "walking" around the cage lol. I should try to get a video of it one day.

lol that's great, my sunglow was taking a break because he was in shed but he just shed and I put them back together and had them copulate atleast once and now the female's in shed. but he's still with her so I'm leaving them for a while still. good luck, you got alot of great pairs you got working.

i got a few misc things im working on this year lets just hope they all go as planned and in the end i have healthy babies and healthy parents.

What do you all have planned for this season???

I got for Boas:
"normal" poss het albino being bred by the albino
then albino het anery x anery het snow

maybe
argentine rainbow boa pairing also
and I am also going to attempt brazilian rainbows also

the the pair of black "bloods" who have been going at it already

ball pythons

fire x normal
mojave x normal
pastel het albino x albino
and if i can get more size on the female then
lessser x mojave

I highly doubt everyone is going to take and have offspring but it will be fun to see what happens

Slacker6848 Oct 28, 2009 10:43 AM

I dont have that much but I have the Sunglow x Albino right now, if he does the deed fast I'm going to throw the sunglow in with my Arabesque Het Albino. I have the Blood Pythons together again, and I may try BRB's, I have to weigh my female because I have no idea of her weight. not too many projects but still quite exciting.
