...and other Great Basin enthusiasts...my one and only GB at about 14 months and three feet long. Type locality remains a mystery as he was found well within typical annectens range.

Is that the one found near Pendleton? Very nice clean colors on that snake.

Good call Darren. That animal is an ultra clean deserticola and shows absolutely no sign of annectens...dare I say, it wasn't born at Pendleton...no freakin' way IMHO

Very hard call as it was found as a small neonate in a base housing area. We'll never know the specific circumstances but I have since learned that a number of "outsider" herps have been found at Pendleton including sidewinders (plural). With the proximity to Twentynine Palms, Irwin, Chocolate Mountains, MCAS Yuma, Goldwater, Nellis and other desert reservations, it's no surprise to me that stuff gets moved from point A to B and perhaps left behind (or lost) during deployments, moves, etc. All those young men and women, bound to be some reptile enthusiasts in the mix. Maybe not the most ecologically tuned folks but enthusiasts none-the-less...
