bringing american chams to canada

chimbakka Sep 17, 2003 08:54 PM

Do online breeders ship to Canada? Also, what kind of paperwork is involved, and how much extra does this cost?
If I were to go to the states and get a cham to bring here, where would I get the SITES paperwork from to do this legally?
Thanks

There is a CITES website you can get info on permits and forms. Search for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and find the link for CITES (might also be listed as International Issues or Affairs, or Trade). I could look for you but it should be pretty straightforward to find. As for what permits etc. some of that will depend on your seller. Some companies have export permits already and some don't. Either way, expect to wait several months (I think 60 to 90 days depending on what type of permit is needed). Chams who have documented origins as captive produced in the US will need less paperwork than chams who were imported from the wild.
