So, with the mex-mex (like tex-mex but hotter!), if you breed ones of same general pattern together, are offspring more likely to resemble those, or are they polymorphic within a clutch and selective breeding for pattern is pretty m uch not doable?

When you breed ones of same general pattern you will get offspring similar to that of the parents/grandparents.
If a normal patterned Mex Mex is bred to a granite it will produce some granites, some inbetweeners and some normals that will carry the gene...So it is somewhat codominant....
I am hoping the Hypo-E trait is codominant as well so I can produce Granite Hypo-Es in the first generation....But I will have to hold all of them back a few months to tell which ones are Hypo-Es as they hatch out looking normal and lose red with each shed until it turns pink and/or disappears...
Breeding for pattern is VERY much doable....That is what the Galvans did to produce the first granites years ago.....
Another pattern variation/trait that used to be bred for was long nuchal striping......I plan on bringing this project back to life in a couple years with a pair of partially striped Mex Mex from the Hypo-E line.....

Bob Fengya bred the original Hypo-E Mex Mex (the mother of the ones you have) to a Pyro and got Hypo-E babies in the first generation. So either the Pyro was het for Hypo-E (which I doubt) or the Hypo-E mutation is reproducible in the first generation. The strange thing is that two normally colored animals from this line can also produce Hypo-E babies as if the were hets.
It also appears that the animals that do have the mutation express varying degrees of Hypoerythrism. Some lighten a lot some not so much. Good luck with the projects! I can't wait to see a Hypo-E black phase!

Thanks Karl....
Not only do I want to produce a Black Hypo-E, but I want to take it a couple steps farther and eventualy produce a Black Granite Hypo-E or Totally Speckled Black Hypo-E.....
I've got all the ingredients....I just have to mix them all together correctly for some years.....LOL
