Milks I wish I owned.

terryd Oct 30, 2009 03:22 PM

Cole is in the process of buying a house, we know how that can go sometimes, and he needed me to keep a number of his milks and other animals at my house while he works on the house.
I thought it would be an opportune time to photograph a few of his choice animals while they're here. He keeps some of the most exceptional looking gentilis, syspila, and of course multistrata.

I'll start off w/ this outstanding nonlocality syspila female.
We plan to breed her to a hypo male next year.

St. Francois co. MO, odd looking buckskin color to this female.

Golden co. gentilis

Another Golden co. gentilis

How about this Golden co. screamer? This is a wish milk fo-sho.

Moving along to one of many neonate Rifle rd. taylori.

Doing it's best Cobra masquerade.

Speaking of nippy snakes. These dudes (Amazon tree boa) are mean and shamelessly nasty.

This guy struck at the camera after I got the shot, I screamed a little in surprise.

I had noticed the day before that these two needed their water bowl filled. So today I went to change it and it was gone. I think they ate it, or are sitting on top of it. I used the lid from the tub to block them from biting me, and put in a new bowl. Cole can fight w/ them for the other bowl.

Yeah, that's two disagreeable boa in the tub.

Let's go back to milks, Tree boa are mean.
Pale milk snakes....aaaahh

I wish I owned these three little jewels.
1. Cherry co. NE

2.

3.

Cole found this Pale as a neonate on one of our herping trips to the midwest. Thomas co. NE

I really like this group of locality Pines he keeps too.
Rancho Santa Barbara, Mexico. Pituophis d. deppei

I'll end here w/ a multistarta that we found this year in Yellowstone co.

And so he dosen't get to big of a head, this is Cole after a few drinks. -Dell

Nice series of photos, man! I owe you... big time... But WTF did you do to me in that last photo?! It's a goofy shot of me to begin with, then you mess up my face and put swirls on my shirt?! LOL

Did the tree boa nail you?

Naa, the Tree boa missed me.

I don't know what your talking about w/ your shirt. You know you wear that shirt all the time. And I'm sorry buddy, but that's how you look. Don't know what else to say.

Greats shots Dell.... amazing subject matter Cole... it's like smoking two stogies simultaneously with all the smoke being blown about =)

Seriously meant though... truly amazing guys!

Sunherp Oct 30, 2009 04:23 PM

It's not proper etiquette to smoke 2 cigars at once. Nor should you clip or light another's cigar for him/her. Leaving the label band on is also considered rude in some circles, as it is a form of braggery. Sometimes, however, it's best to smoke with the band on for a while, to soften the glue use to hold it on. This prevents the wrapper from being torn, which can be a source of endless frustration. LOL

Thanks for the kind words, but did YOU just blow a little smoke??? LOL

Talk to you soon, buddy

Great post Dell. Thanks for sharing some of Cole's sweet animals. I hope he has an accurate inventory of what he brought over, otherwise, I'm afraid his collection may be a little lighter when he moves into the new house!

WOW!!!,....Cole certainly DOES have some screamers in his collection!...man!

Those striking white Cherry Counties are just phenomenal too!

Speaking of "striking", you said...."This guy struck at the camera after I got the shot, I screamed a little in surprise."

So those could CERTAINLY be considered "screamers" too then, right?..HAHAHAHA!!, only in a different way!

And no wonder Cole has that Sh!&$-eatin' grin on his face,..look at that crazy paisley print pattern on that awesome snake he just caught!!

Nice "photog" work too Dell!

Thanks Shannon,
I Googled the area, and had noticed the same thing,
but chalked it up to the old hide the locale axiom.
Kinda like the South "Oak" Rd. Ut. locale. LOL!!!
I wish the Utah triangulum, and others ,i.e., Co.,
and Ar. were more well represented in collections.
I think there is a lot to be learned from these locales,
that the States would rather have destroyed, via economic
development, than preserve in ernest. Sad, Sad, Sad.
Brian Hubbs made this point perfectly in the preface
of his new book.

Work is the curse of
the drinking class!

DMong Nov 05, 2009 12:05 AM

Phil,....

Yeah, there were some pretty sad habitat distruction, and snake salvaging stories in his book.

Man,...is that an interesting, detailed, and well-done book or WHAT??....there is simply no comparison to any other getula book on the entire planet,...simple as that!

It's also pretty cool when you can leaf through the book, and recognize well over half of the people involved with it's content, and they are other snake buddies you know..LOL!

Brian really did a fantastic job on that, hey Phil?

Jeff Schofield Oct 31, 2009 06:52 PM

There are a few guys on the forum that have borrowed snakes for breeding loans and have "lost em" in the house. And its making sense to me now.....he is crossing those Amazons with the milks to get em super aggressive right??

daneby Nov 03, 2009 06:13 PM

Great pics Dell! & Cole nice snakes! You have such a bad ass colection.

Oh yea, Cole, Congrats on the new house!
