I usually experience the opposite from children--when they see my snakes in the living room they are desparate to have a closer look at them. I would never try to frighten a child with a snake, or anything else for that matter. I also wouldn't have stepped outside my door with her--I don't let children come into my home without their parents if they want to see my snakes. If I ran into the situation in which a child was frightened, rather than intrigued, I would have backed off and let someone else hand out the candy. I didn't meen to imply that I was hoping to frighten children with her, I just enjoy showing her off--I had three kids who wanted to come in and look at my snakes as it was (you can see some of my enclosures from the door), but without their parents, it's not going to happen.
Of all my snakes, this one is the calmest, most docile snake I have, even including my ball pythons. She doesn't mind being touched on the head, side of her face, or body. Her size is intimidating, but other than that she is a sweety.
Thanks for the heads up either way!
