Suspected Anery Charcoal

Shiari Nov 01, 2009 02:02 PM

My creature shed today, so I've been throwing pictures of her all over the internet.

This is Vanay. She's an 09 petco purchase and my current pet theory about her is homozygous anery charcoal. I really love how clean she is, as well as her weird head pattern. She was significantly darker when she was younger.

So, what do you guys think?

** That could very well be, that would be my first guess too, but without knowing for sure what genotype the parents were, it's impossible to say. But it certainly DOES look anery type "B" (charcoal) to me.

hmmm, if your ghost is anery "A", and it is also het for charcoal(anery B), how will it prove the one you posted out?. Although the two types are incompatible, It can still throw both types in the clutch, and it could take a while to know which type was which until they matured some too. But I guess that's what you meant by also testing in 2013 as well, correct?, because the prior 2012 wouldn't prove either way yet.

The ghost is from a ghost x ghost pair, and the lineage has not thrown charcoals to my knowledge. And that would prove her out for being also homozygous anery. If I get *any* normals, she's not. Easy as that. The 2012 pairing will let me know if she is homozygous for Anery A and also test out hidden hets for hypo A or motley.

I got Vanay as a 6 gram hatchling. She looked quite different from anery AND charcoal hatchlings at that point.

So, in 2012 I will pair her with a ghost. In 2013 I will pair her with a charcoal. Those pairings will also allow for preliminary testing for hypo, motley, and diffused hets.

Ah, okay, I misread the other post, and thought the ghost was het for all the above. Now I totally understand..LOL! my mistake!

Makes good sense now..LOL!

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

If you're thinking hybrid, I questioned that of several breeders and none have found her particularly suspicious.

But here you go. Her pattern is "fractured", almost sunkissed-like, but too "broken".
