North Brazilian BCC / Substrate Question

mlf Nov 02, 2009 09:29 AM

Hello everyone my name is Michael Fabrizio and this is Maggie, a Female 2008 North Brazilian BCC from Eugene Bessette / Ophiological Services
I would like to know what everyone thinks of coconut husk bedding, specifically Coco Soft by Blue Iguana/Caribsea,Inc.

First off great looking animal Eugene's line is very distinct.

I am sure that the substrate is fine...the only thing that may be of concern is if it has very long fibers that could cause digestion issues.

I still prefer aspen as my first choice...just opinion

Thanks,
Eugene is top notch all around. I always feed her in a rubbermaid tub to avoid any ingestion. I had always been a newspaper guy but after reading Gus Rentfro/RioBravo's literature I decided to use bedding. I have to agree with what he says in regards to the boa moving around its enclosre with more confidence. My roomate uses this will his ball pythons and I thought I'd give it a try. I have used aspen in the past and if this had not been around thats what I have gone with.

I use aspen for all my North Brazilians.....I mist daily though... to keep the humidity up...... But I've never had any issue with ingestion of aspen in the 16 years I've kept snakes.... I do like forest bark as well and I use it in my display cages... really looks nicer than the aspen
