Rare Axanthic Het Albino Anaconda Morph

H_nasicus Nov 02, 2009 08:00 PM

Sorry, I couldn't resist poking a little fun. Here is my NORMAL Western Hognose that I got at the Reptile Expo a few months ago in Daytona.

Just couldn't resist showing him off! You can click on the thumbnails for bigger images if you'd like.

I was curious, what does it mean to have a 'striped' western hog? I heard someone mention it and I was confused.

Thanks! He's nothing special, but he's a sweetie. I would love to get an axanthic one of these days, or a red, or maybe an albino, but seeing as I'm short on cash and he's my first snake, I figured a normal western would suit me just fine.

Really cool normal hog... I really like the pattern on that guy... Very nice...

Thanks! Actually one of the reasons I was asking about striped, was that the breeder had mentioned he was a striped...

however, it sure doesn't look to me like he has stripes, which is why I was wondering if there was a difference in striped vs non-striped western hogs..

The breeder was referring to the area between the dorsal blotches. it give the appearance of a stripe.

Some of the spotted animals actually have a gold stripe down the spine. Here is an example of one with a gold stripe on one of my het albino girls.

This albino has it somewhat as well.
