Hey John,
Is this guy a creamy white? Can't tell if the flash is playing tricks or not.
That is not what I'm used to seeing. The wild holbrooki here are an unbelievably bright yellow. That's a really nice looking animal.
30" after a year is impressive. getula sure grow like weeds.

NO...he is a creamy yellow....LOL
The flash does wash it out a bit.....And it depends on what monitor you view the pics on....My new 24" Monitor has way better color than my laptop monitor...
I have a couple that are bright yellow as well....

The ones from my area down in South Texas are bright yellow even with the Splendida influence we have south of Copano Bay....

I think Tom's hets are the best specks I have ever seen, I really like the cream color on them, and of course his WW are the best!

John, those look very much like the Calcasieu Parish, La, specimens my brothers and I have been catching for years and years. Different from the gold ones that are really popular here. I like both.

I agree....Calcasieu Parish is Lake Charles (lake chuck) area, correct?
I think the Sabine river separates the East Texan bright Yellow/Orange ones from Louisiana, but I am sure there are a few found very similar around Lake Charles.....
Todd...correct me if I'm wrong...
But I think this influence has made it's way all the way down to North Aransas County stopping at Copano Bay....South of the bay we find more Splendida looking getula and intergrades.....
I think pure Holbrooki can be found as far south as Calhoun county as Todd has a nice little locality collection of them from there....

i have had very little luck myself in Aransas county with either specks, splendida or intergrades, but I really don't have any spots in that county per say. The furthest south I have personally found any real specks is this Calhoun county population, and I know of reliable info from Victoria county. I have one male really cream colored from Refugio county, right across the river from the Calhouns.

That's right, Lake Chuck. I'm from Sulphur, just across the bridge from Lake Charles. Maybe I'll call my locality speckled kings "Sulphur Specks." I'll bet that would cause some confusion.

I'm sure it would....LOL
I think Jim Sargent calls his East Texas locality Holbrooki "Lemon Specks...."
And...I know Sulphur pretty well.
I've worked there a few times in my career.
Actually I've probably worked in every Oil Refinery from Corpus Christi to New Orleans on the Gulf Coast....
Not to mention all the other God forsaken other places I've been sent to work....LOL

Yeah, Jim calls them Lemon Specks. And they are really nice. I've seen them up close at some of the shows in the Austin and Houston areas. I live in Austin now, right down the road from Tom Stevens, but I grew up in Sulphur and spent all my life there until two years ago.

BTW, my dad does business all over the same area. Corpus, Houston, LC, Baton Rouge, etc. The company he works for sells corrosion resistant piping, valves, plastic products, etc. to the refineries and other industries.
