Mazuri diet question?

Lokii Nov 02, 2009 11:21 PM

So I have had my two year old cuban rock iguana for a few months now. he was purchased at a show. He is fiesty as all get out, but I figure with time he will calm down..hopefully. Any suggestions on taming is always appreciated . Anyways my question is concerning his diet. For the last couple of months he has been on a variety of greens and squash and a little fruit. He picks at it, but never finishes it. At first I thought he was just adjusting to his new enviroment and etc. His temps are as recomended, basking spot about 118 and cool side 85ish. I have found out he loves banannas, but thats about it. I have tried bright red and yellow foods and nothing seems to work. He is obiviously eating some, but not as good as I would like. So the other day i bought some Mazuri to mix in with his food and he literally picked all the mazurie out and ate it. So the next day I tried just mazuri and he ate most of it. So to finally get to my question, is it ok to provide just a diet of mazuri with some greens, banannas and squash mixed in every 4 or 5 days? Is this healthy for him? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

ya thats fine, but i feed mostly greens and mazuri only like 2 or 3 days a week. some people only feed tortoise chow 100%, but i still like greens and they are so cheep.

If your going that way, soak first in water to avoid stressing the kidneys

I feed a diet MAZURI TORTOISE CHOW heavy in my Cyclura and Green Iguanas and get spectacular results in production consistently. The stool resembles wild lizards and fertility is high in females [almost 100%]. If it's not broke I don't try to fix it so I'm quite happy with my lizards and diet....

I feed Mazuri Tortoise Diet exclusively to all my cyclura. They definitely grow bigger and faster on it. I always soak it first. It's great stuff.

Feed stores usually sell it in 25lb bags. I think Mazuri's website sells the 1 lb bag online (but its way overpriced). Most people get the big bag.

Does anyone feed Mazuri as a main food to Ctenosauras?
