Writing a Research Paper, Please Help

ninj726 Nov 03, 2009 02:16 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am Writing a research paper on Reptile Law and how it affects the reptile industry for a Business law class, and I was hoping I could find a few people to answer a couple of questions for me, so that I can include some thoughts from real people active in the industry in my essay. If anyone is willing to answer these, it will be highly appreciated.I would like to get the name and business name of each person to respond, so that I can cite you each as one of my sources. responses can be emailed to jrobinson3@csustan.edu, or simply posted onto this post. Here are the questions:

1) What are your thoughts/feelings about the proposed non native species ban hr669?
2) If passed, how will hr669 affect your business?

Again, all responses are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

1) I feel that the law is too overarching and largely unnecessary. The "guilty until proven innocent" method of sorting species is rarely based on good scientific work. Primarily I am angered that the most devastating species we currently have, such as cattle, dogs, cats, etc, are not included in the law. Yet less (or non) destructive species such as guinea pigs and ball pythons are included.

2) It would eliminate the business I am trying to build almost entirely, giving me little or no chance to recoup the investments I have made in prime breeding ball pythons. If the law passes, I would officially have almost $10,000 worth of pets that I cannot take with me when I move out of state and cannot sell/trade to another person within my state. So if I needed to move, they would all pretty much have to be euthanized.

Post Script: If anyone with a greater understanding of this law would like to contradict the conclusions I have reached, by all means. Though I have read both the complete and abridged versions of this law, my understanding in places is tenuous at best.

thank you so much for your help. I absolutely agree with you about how rediculous it is not to include dogs and cats. A toddler was recently mauled to death by a babysitters pit bull near where I live. and cattle are the worst animal for the environment which they are "trying" to protect, because of the amount of greenhouse gasses they produce. I would appreciate it if I could get your full name and the name of your business so that I can cite you as a source for my paper. if you don't want to post it, you can email meat jrobinson3@csustan.edu.

Thanks,
Jeremy
