hr2811.....secretary's are rude

adamjeffery Nov 05, 2009 11:12 AM

man when i was calling i had some very rude individuals answering the phones. one lady told me i was not suppose to call and that it was a congressional courtesy to only call your own congress person and no one else. others told me i had to live in their district.
many of them on the other hand took what i had to say and asked nothing about where i was from. im hoping that our efforts pay off and that this does not get passed. at least not in its current writing.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

I didn't get any yesterday but I called earlier in the morning. Some just got off the phone quickly and I am assuming if my address or zip was not in their district they blew it off. Some were pretty nice and familiar with hr2811 and told me they were receiving plenty of calls on it in opposition.

I did a breakdown of each of the calls I made. When I was confronted with the "THis isnt your rep" type of comments, I merely stated that "While I have also contacted my representative, this is a nationwide issue, rep So and so is on the committee that is reviewing this issue, and this will impact me. This legislation has national repercussions and that is why I am reaching out to as many people with my stance"

Short of Meek in FL everyone was a bit more understanding at that point.

I initiated my comments by telling them where I was calling from, and that I had already contacted my representative, but unfortunately, he is not on the committee addressing this measure. Since the issue can have a significant impact on my business and my family, I was contacting all of the committee members involved. The aids were generally receptive and understanding once I made that point.

Next time one of them says that, ask them if they take campaign contributions from out of state.

There are also ways to see who has contributed to someone.

That should give them something to think about.
