Love Is In The Air

I was glad to see some action between one of my Silvera Females and my Jungle.

I've been dreaming about producing Silvera Jungles for many years.

Here's hoping.......

At least no more than usual!!!

There are three snakes in that pile. I'm looking at the first pic scratching my head thinking it just doesn't look right, can't seem to tie all the body parts together into a breeding pair. Then this second pic and I see three heads. Phew!!!

Looking good, see you this weekend.

That will be one hell of a pairing. I bet it'll be hard to tell which is which since I think Silvera's look a lot like Jungles anyways.

So what is a Silvera boa?

FGS Nov 07, 2009 02:29 PM

Dave,

That's a great question.

Chris Silvera is a boa breeder that lives in Central California. He's been selectively breeding the same line of boas for many years. In the 90s I was lucky to have purchased 2.2 babies from Chris. Before that I was strictly a colubrid breeder, but when I saw the quality of animals that Chris was producing I couldn't help buying a small breeding group from. Three years later I produced my first boa litter from one of the pairs of boas I purchased from Chris. There were only 8 babies from that first litter, but the quality of all 8 of those babies was unbelievable.

Here is a couple of photos of what I considered the best of the that litter. The female in the photo below died a few years ago, but her 2 sisters are the ones that I'm hoping will produce with the jungle.

Good luck with your breeding season.

Hey Alex, it's great to hear from you.

Yeah, most people that see the Silveras in person say "are you sure those aren't jungles".

I know it might be difficult to differentuate between the jungles and the Silvers if I'm lucky to get a litter, but It will be a problem I look forward to.

Hope all is well with you and your family bud
