When we first started looking into buying a snake, everyone we spoke with pointed us toward balls...so I found and bought several books on balls. When I discovered pits (and gophers in particular), finding good, informative books was a lot harder. I've got one, called Pine Snakes...it's not bad...but it leaves out a lot of information I'd love to have in one place.
I've written a novel and have an agent who is currently working on placing it with a publishing house. What I'm thinking of now, is how great it would be to write a book about pits. I would want to include detailed chapters on catinefer, deppei, melanoleucus, and maybe even lineaticollis and ruthveni. (Those are all the families I currently know.) I'd like to include detailed husbandry guidelines for each snake...especially as they seem to vary a bit even within families. And of course, lots of beautiful pictures!
I can write. What I need though, is an expert to collaborate with. If you're really interested in working on something like this, it would certainly be a commitment of time and energy...but there is no huge rush, so don't think that offering suddenly means taking on a new full time job!
If anyone is interested in helping out on this (with knowledge and/or pictures) please e-mail me.
It could be a very fun, exciting project to work on, and I know I would thoroughly enjoy learning so much more about these beautiful animals!
Lemme know if you're interested...

If you write and don't hear back from me fairly quickly, it is because we've been knocked offline for a few days by Hurricane Isabel...but I'll be back!
Sincerely,
Judy
