Hi.
I've never had to deal with a large dead adult boa. But I was wondering... I assume you could bring the boa to a vet for proper disposal? As you would a dog that passed away in your home?
Thanks.

Yes, you can take your large boa to a vet for disposal. They will charge you for their services. Normally it costs about 40 to 60 dollars. Sometimes they'll take them to be creamated, but other times they'll simply throw them out in the trash. Some vets have very little respect for your dead reptiles.
You can also take them to a pet cemetary for burial, agian you will be charged for the service. The average price is 100 dollars.
You can have them creamated, but that's a more expensive route. About 130 dollars for your average large boa. You will get the ashes back in a small wooden box. You can also opt to have them creamated in a "mass" creamation. It's much more affordable, but you won't be getting the ashes back. The cost for that is 30 to 50 dollars.
When my favorite boa passed. I opted for the individual creamation. I paid 130 dollars and purchased a "fancy" urn for her remains. The fancy urn was 60 dollars. It was worth the money.
Obviuosly, I checked out all the options before deciding on the individual creamation.
Fillet the meat... dredge in a little flour and pan fry.... made a brown butter meniure sauce with capers shallots and lemon... Python is better... but Im sure boa isnt that bad

Pet Cemetery.
I still remember it took him like 20 pages to describe how they scaled the fence. It scares me still just thinking about it.
Seriously though, as a kid I remember my family buried our
golden retriever in the back yard. I'm sure that in the current,
fanatical climate of political correctness this is probably a
felony punishable by death...
I assume that you don't have a yard to bury it in . Can't you drive out to the country and toss it in the woods ? I hope that I don't sound calice , but to me , once its dead, its dead/gone/over/done . I could never get myself to pay a vet or any other organization to just dispose of any dead animal.

Driving out to the country and dumping it would be the WORSE thing you could do!!!
There's enough bad press and media sensationalism as it is. If someone was to find a "large" dead boa in the woods.....
Well, there'd be new rumors of a invasive species invasion!!
It's best to properly dispose of your deceased boa. It might cost you a little money, but it won't give any more fuel to those who are trying to ban our reptiles.
This might be a sacrilege to some but if you'd like to put it on some dry ice and send it me I'd take care of it for you. I am playing with some taxidermy with deceased snakes.
I just sent you an email. I don't know when I'll have another boa that passes. Hopefully it will be a very long time, but taxidermy sounds like a better alternative to me.

LSD -- obviously , I'm not saying to dump it in a ditch on the side of the road . But rather to take it to a remote area and bury it - it would decompose within a season .

Prehaps "next time" you should say what you mean in ther first place.
You said "Can't you drive out to the country and toss it in the woods ?"
You never said, "bury it". You said, "toss it".
So, in the future you sould say what you mean. Also, nobody said a thing about tossing it in a ditch. Again, those were your words.
I still think that "any" dead animal should be disposed of properly. Even if it cost you a few bucks... or more than a few bucks.
It's part of being a "Responsibe Pet Owner".
I would bury it with a new tree..just me.
lol!!
