Timor python pics & question

St0n3_C0ld Nov 09, 2009 02:44 PM

This is my 60 cm female Timor python, well still not adult yet, but she is a very very very tame girl and i really love her
but do you guyz have any experience in breeding this python? Wanna find her a mate when she reaches adulthood
Any successful breeding info for me? ^^

They have to be 5-7 years old, or older, to breed. My male is over 6', my female over 8'. They're together now for the cooldown, no copulation seen. Course...it might be happening in the hide box.

Yeah, it is a shy creature, who knows the copulation might happen in the hide box or sometimes at night..
Do you hibernate your timor before introducing male to the female? Considering this is a snake from a tropical country i wonder if we need to hibernate these guyz

I'm taking the temp down to the mid 70's for a month, then back to normal. Do yours poop on you when you handle them? The males are famous for that.

this is a female one by the way, and yes she pooped on me when i handled her right after i got her home on the very 1st day. But she never do that again so far, she's a really nice girl to play with ^^
Sometimes i wonder why she always comes to the cage door when i walk pass her enclosure. Dunno if she likes me or just expecting food ;p

i got another question tho..
do yours always stay in the water bowl? mine does stay inside the water bowl a lot whether she's ready to shed or after the shed, no mites found anyway because i wonder if mites is the reason why she stays in the water bowl.
u guyz know why? she's eating fine by the way

2 reasons I can think of. Too hot in the rest of the cage...and mites. The larvel stage is very hard to see, unlike the poppyseed adults.

Does every snake stop eating when it has mites? Cuz mine never skips any feeding schedule so far even when she's in the shedding process..
Well not exactly everytime she stays in the water bowl. 'Bout few weeks lately i've been observing that she sometimes come out of the water bowl and rest somewhere else at night. I think it may be the temperature thing because i live in a tropical country

Well, Timor's come from a tropical country and they are not watersnakes, so I'd simply take the temp of the water, see what it is, and if there are no issues, suspect mites.
