?? Fully Adjustable Rack System

okay so after checking out the link from down below i was a little curious about these

http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=1754127,1754127

i get that they are nice due to the adjustable shelves. but to be honest it actually look like it would be rather difficult to adjust... getting the right height, then trying to work on corner at a time in order to get it level.

also i know it said in there somewhere that assembly is easy... yet i dont see it being very easy, at least not untill you get 4 or 5 shelves in place to where its a little sturdy and can stand by itself. unless of corse you have 4 people... one on each corner holding a leg as you slide that first shelf into place.

thats just how i see it, i could be totally wrong having never done it. maybe it really is that much easier than i think it would be

Its actually very easy once the threaded rod is securly attached to the first board the clamping force of the apposing nuts holds the rod very straight.

As for the setup, you aren't making it level just parallel to the first shelf. Once you get going its rather quick. The longest hardest and most tedious time is running all the nuts down 70" of threaded rod. But a rubber wheel on a shaft clamped to a drill chuck makes it real fast. If your boards are true then you won't have an issue.

BTW I haven't used this method for cage construction but its a very popular construction technique in the model railroad hobby. Suspension layouts and helixs being the most common.

Cheers
