Go to home Depot, buy some of that plastic light diffuser and some PVC pipe. Cut the diffuser so that it fits snugly in your egg box, make legs for it out of the PVC, and add water under it. Make sure the water won't come in contatc with the eggs. If you don't want to make the legs, you can stack multiple pieces of the diffuser in there and get the same effect. If your egg box does not have a nice, snug lid, cut a piece of plastic sheeting to fit between the box and the lid. I started using this set up thanks to advice i got here after losing a clutch on vermiculite, and it works pretty well.

So. These boxes are obviously heated. It looks as though you're using an old fridge or something to keep them at a certain temp. What advice would you have for someone who's just going to have ONE clutch?

Last year was my first year. A friend told me a system that worked well for me. I had 3 clutches totaling 17 eggs and had 100% hatch. I used a rubbermaid tub, put a brick in each corner and set light defuser on the bricks. Use a submersable aquarium heater and water to just below the light defusser. Put egg containers on the light defuser. I kept my herp room @ 80f and the inside of the rubbermaid @ 88f.
Best of luck to you
Claude

That's actually a Nature's Spirit Incubator. I hope to one day have enough clutches that I need an old fridge. If you're only going to have one clutch, there's various options. You can use a hovabator, an old aquarium, a cooler, etc. your primary goal is to have 100% humidity and proper temps. Someone postred below about an aquarium setup-that would probably work well for you. Make sure the top is covered with something solid to hold humidity.
