Snapped a few quick pix as I was feeding/cleaning...

Gonna be a nice Apalachicola, I think...

A nice normal looking prairie king...

a light San Pedro mtn. king w/rat in belly...
(Don't know if I'd say hypo-e but he's light)

and how 'bout this hog?
Sinaloan milk w/ full sized rat in her belly.

WOW.

All those are really nice examples Mark.

I would certainly think that agalma is worthy of being hypo-E. The trait is variable by nature anyway, and besides being very light, I even see some voids of erythristic color on it's red body rings.

Very cleanly defined calligaster too, as well as the very nice 12 RBR Sinaloan.

Thanks Doug. I've had that agalma for years and have never bred him to another. A friend had an anery one but it was male and all he ever got from his efforts were male but I never got the chance to get one and have since lost track of him.
The sinaloans have been favorites since I first saw them so I always keep a few.
When breeding,I was shooting for 10 bands and have produced a few but sold them along with white bellies.
Actually found this girl and a mate on CraigsList! I could not pass her up. She's huge and only about 4 yrs. old.
The prairie is a het/albino I believe and was given to me by a KS forum user.

Man!,..that's a shame to have that nice agalma sitting around without a nice mate. I would assume you will get around to that sometime fairly soon though?.

Yeah, if you produced some 10 banded Sinaloan's, that's as good as it gets. Ya know, I have to wonder if there has EVER been anyone to produce one with less than ten RBR. Even their subspecific meristic data begins at 10 rings, and goes to 16. It would seem that somewhere, someone has seen one with less than 10, albeit very rare, but who knows. I would imagine whoever bought those 10 ringed ones from you was quite happy with them to say the least.

That's pretty sweet how you scored that nice one on Craigs List,...you never know when or where a killer animal deal will happen, they just show up, and you were at the right place, at the right time. Whoever had her was sure feeding her extremely well. Usually as you know, it's quite the opposite that happens when you find them at places like that, but of course not always.

Anyhow, good luck with those nice specimens if you decide to breed them.

Nice snakes Mark. How old is that prairie king? Still has nice color and pattern is why I ask. I hope my pair holds color like that if that is an adult.

CrimsonKing Nov 10, 2009 07:48 PM

Yes it's a big breedable adult female. I'm hoping to get a nice big male for her soon. I have another much older female het/albino as well as a normal wc male.
