Man I hate seeing stuff like that! I would love to run into & photograph a snake like that in the wild! Just imagine how long that thing was arround in order to get that large, its a shame it was killed. So many people feel like heros when they kill rattlesnakes, like they save a life every time they kill one, its just too bad.

I agree why do they always kill those big beautiful animals
Relocate it if you must no need to kill it.
Plus I thought Easterns were protected species ???

From my understanding in GA it's legal to kill as many venomous snakes as you want. But all non-venomous snakes are protected.
We can't have or keep any native snakes but we can have as many native venomous snakes as we want.

That sucks! Thats kinda the way it is here in Montana, No one can sell wc native snakes, even if they were collected in an area of development, but anyone can go kill as many prarie rattlesnakes as they want & sell the skins. It dosnt make much sence to me.

This story makes my stomach turn, it's sad on so many levels. And I wonder if PETA or HSUS expressed any outrage at this?
Nope!!! Nada!!! No Way!!!
Sorry I know there are big rattlers out there but that one doesn't look like one of them. Look at the tongs and then look at the size of the head of the snake. That thing is not as big as they are saying. I wouldn't doubt if it's only about 6ft.
too bad it was killed and too bad they didn't get better pics with a better reference for scale.
Amazing how choosy PETA can be when they want to.
As far as that being an 8'Eastern I doubt it, I am no expert but I lived in FL. for 20 years and did a lot of field herping and ran across some big rattlers. The head looks kind of small to be that large of a snake IMO.
What a shame to needlessly kill such a stoic creature, and if I remember correctly they are protected still and killing them or even harassing them would be illegal WTF!
