L. Gaigae Breeding

Raveness_d Nov 12, 2009 06:07 PM

Just wondering if dropping temps is necessary to stimulate breeding/reproductive success in Black Milks, as they are kept so much cooler than other species?

I haven't been able to find much in the way of reproductive information regarding this particular species.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Danielle,

I do drop the temps for 2 1/2 months like other colubrids but I'm not convinced you have to. one year I put a pair in a spare bedroom closet with temps in the mid 60s all winter long and they produced a successful clutch.

Although not necessary in my opinion, it won't hurt to do it.
