Live pinks are a milkheads magic

snake_bit Nov 12, 2009 10:03 PM

This nebraska red milk had only eaten a one inch section of worm snakes and a few forced tail untill today. She has been offered scented f/t pinks whole and severed heads.Seconds after I put in a slightly over sized live pink I could hear the wrestling match as she took her first real meal.

............

It took about 60 mins for her to get this down.

Let's hear it for live pinks!! After a few good meals it shouldn't be too hard to convert it to f/t.

I've had some success this year getting nates on f/t pinks using the old reliable tiny pink, brained, in deli cup with a paper towel crumpled up in a dark place for a few hours.

That sure beats using lizard soup scented pink heads!

That's way cool stuff, Dougster. I've had similar experiences with live pinks. Are you just doing domestic mice, or are you rearing Peromyscus, too?

Very nice. It's cool when those things finally start eating with no "tricks" needed.

I'm surprised noone else has said this yet...but that's a damn fine looking animal! The bands are so uniform and very clean. It's one of the nicest I've seen in a long time...and a Nebraska animal to boot (you don't see that state's reds shown much around here).

I was just going to say how perfectly symmetrical the banding is on that animal, as well as the coloring too..LOL!

that is definitely one sweet looking youngster!

Here is one of her siblings that has a different look (deeper red and different saddle size)

This one has eaten several pinks
