Is there a trick to souduring?

StevenOrndorff Nov 14, 2009 03:26 PM

I just spent the last 2 hours trying to souder a wire to a peice of flexwatt and can't get it right. I got it to stick to the flexwatt and got it to stick to the wire, but can't get them to stick to each other. The soudering wire will only melt for me when its on the roll. The globs i got stuck to either end won't remelt. Any suggestions on what i'm doing wrong?
Thanks

I apologize if you already did this, but sometimes you need to reflux the two areas.Rin

Sounds like a temperature problem.

Did you remove the plastic covering from the copper?

what plastic covering? I've never soudered before. What is reflux?

to get them to stick together.......

remove the plastic from the flexwatt

reflux both the flexwatt and wire

heat the flexwatt to the point that the solder will melt onto the flexwatt...melt the solder then add the wire...hold the wire until the solder cools.
