Baby Bolivian Digestive problem

sra Nov 14, 2009 06:11 PM

Hello, well I have one baby Bolivian that cannot seem to digest fur. The last three times he's eaten (I waited two weeks inbetween times) he has "thrown" this up... but it doesn't smell like a regurge. It looks like a giant hairball. I was feeding him mice fuzzies but after this I have tried pinkies to a certain degree of success. What can I do to get him over this stage? Here's pictures of the hairball

BTW, I have a female from the same litter as him and she did this only once.

As long as he is getting nutrition, you'd think he'd be OK.
Maybe he will grow out of it. One would think that there's a period in the beginning of a Boas life (like all animals) where gut flora is established. Maybe he's a little behind in that regard?
Does he seem weak, sick?

Back him/her off to a couple of day old rat pink... I usually give the rat pink a little powder coating of nutribac. repeat in 10-14 days... check your temps as well.. And a fecal run by your vet may also tell you a-lot needs to be fresh though...

Nutribac is available from several online reptile supply shops...

Good Luck....

I do not know about that particular animal, but I do know that many times Boas will regurgitate after being fed TOO SMALL of a food item. I don't have time to elaborate a bunch on this now. But I will soon. Some time after I get all my boys in with girls this coming week maybe.
