baby blackthroat looks dull

Krystal_R Nov 15, 2009 11:04 AM

HI I was really have second thoughts about posting here because it seems everyone just wants to bash people instead of help them out. I know there are still a few of you out there willing to help!

I have a baby blackthroat and his color isnt as bright as it was when i first got him. He is eating fine and is growing just in these last few weeks he has gotten very dull and losiing his bright yellow already.
I have him in a 40breeder at the moment, he has about 4 or so inches of dirt/sand/moss mix which is kept damp. His basking area has several levels for him to pick what temp he wants to bask at the highest spot is apprs 135 degrees and the lowest which is on the dirt is 94 degrees, the ambient temp is approx 75-80 degrees depending on the time of day. he has a shallow water dish, lots of branches to climb on a little log hide and some live plants that he can hide under as well.

Any ideas why he is so very dull?

You know i was thinking it could be because of him shedding. How old is your guy?

Sounds like it's living condition are on the money. Other than it might be going into shed, I have had very good success dusting minerall (indoor formual) on their food items, espicially crickets. Seemed to give them a healthy overall look. Good luck...
