I believe the reply was a sincere suggestion that you may want to consider editing your posts for spelling and sentence structure before hitting the post button. I agreed. I am sorry you felt as though someone were making fun of you.

Coming back in to call us "pricks" does not improve your status. It only adds to the perception that you aren't serious about what it is that you pretend (I'm sorry, that was supposed to be intend) to do.... venomous keeping. Also, if you plan to quote Margaret Mitchell, the name is Scarlett.

Now to the real subject at hand... your desire to keep venomous snakes. I would be more than pleased... estatic comes to mind... to help you in ANY way I can regarding the keeping of ANY snake species for which I have any experience or access to information on the keeping of, IF you will merely write to me and ask.

I would prefer it if you can be fairly specific in your questions, and if you can be patient in waiting for a reply. I am about to start working some long hours, and it may take me a day or two to formulate and send a decent answer. You can either click on the link above this message, or write to: blackpak@yahoo.com to contact me. I really do hope you understand that the first post in this series was not intended to attack you, but to illustrate the difference between a well written query and one that was more difficult to understand.

I am sorry if my words hurt you.

Did anyone consider the possibility of a new "soap opera"...THE MOUSE MAN AND THE COPPERHEAD KID? Perhaps somewhere we can get back to the real things this forum is about unless someone wants to volonteer to grade all our posts. Damn...Makes me feel like I'm back in high school days....Welcome back in Copperhead! For the record I was an "A" student in English and I still do Typo's.

Copperheadkid,
If you take the time to wade through the debate over the political correctness of correcting someone's communication skills, you will find that some of those "pricks" took the time to give you some good information. Were you unable to make sense of correctly spelled recommendations?

As to your "few words":

To all the "pricks" who like to pick on my spelling I have a few words. FRANKLY MY DEAR SCARLIT I DONT GIVE A DANM.

You probably would have been better served to accurately quote the movie since you chose one that is so well known. But given your own word assembly choice, it should actually look something like this:

"Frankly my dear Scarlett, I don't give a damn!"

I wish you luck with whatever you choose. I sincerely hope that you are able to properly communicate with the doctor should you ever have a mishap. As far too many people in this community have found, it takes a great amount of communication skill to make a doctor understand what we consider "plain English" when discussing venomous reptiles.

To all the dissenters, who are probably waiting with bated breath for my all too predictable response: I stand by my original assessment. It is truly a shame when a teenager (the guardians of shock, curse and swear words) cannot even spell "damn" correctly.

At the risk of offending my dear mouse, I think that it was more like "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn". Scarlette (other spellings aside) was not named in the quote.

But off we go again, is this a literary forum or a forum representative of those that keep venomous animals?

Regards,
J.

I agree with your review of the correct quote.
I chose not to correct his quoting ability beyond what I said:

"You probably would have been better served to accurately quote the movie since you chose one that is so well known. But given your own word assembly choice, it should actually look something like this:"

Instead, I chose to correct only what he actually typed, misquoted and misguided as it was.

Oddly enough, I do not bear any ill will. I am just saddened by the general lack of care given for the education we spend so much of our lives giving or receiving. I ascribe to the belief that once you stop learning, you die.

You have used one of my favorite sayings...I allways advocate education...But, If you think you are going to push this person into going back to school you are sadly mistaken...And if he is driven off this forum...it is just as possible that you are denying him information that could result in a serious accident. By all means Education is vital...But here the education is about possible life threatening situations...not crossing T's and dotting I's. That is why I have defended the kid. A battle with no winners is just plain stupid. If you are the educated man you present yourself as, then you can see the sense of what I am saying. End it.

Frank,
I believe that if you do a search for my nickname, you will find that I do not arbitrarily correct spelling and grammar. In fact, I only comment on it when it is severly miserable.
Perhaps you are correct and I am not helping.
I find it to be greatly depressing to go to the various shows and watch vendors tell people that the bite of a copperhead is much like a bee sting or to come here and see someone with only a year's worth of involvement with venomous snakes tell a "newbie" that a Gaboon Viper makes a great starter snake. When someone cannot even spell well enough to properly phrase their question, it is difficult to tell them the truth - that they should read and study every bit of information that they can get their hands on.
So be it.
