Yikes! Baby fight! (long message)

vampchick00 Nov 16, 2009 11:46 PM

Hi
I'm not so much of a breeder, as I enjoy raising babies as a hobby, but will only raise a clutch if I know I can place them all, and the rest of the eggs are taken in by a large breeder in the same town.
So, I don't have a lot of experiance with babies, as this is only my 5th clutch.
I've never had a problem before with the way I've house them, I keep them very well fed, and fairly spaced in their enclosures (usually no more than 6 per large rubbermaid bin, and obviously less as they grow). Before now, I've never even had a toe or tail nip.
Last night, one baby decided to attack another out of the blue, and was basically trying to bite off its forearm. The one being attacked retaliated and latched onto the biters forearm as well! I seperated them as soon as I saw this, but today I've noticed that both of their arms are swollen, bruised, and not working.
What should I do!? Is there anything I can do to help them heal? They are still eating fine, just not so mobile.

Any suggestions?

House both babies separately, flush the bites with clean water and add a little neosporin on the injuries. Use paper towel as the substrate. If the swelling doesn't go down in a day or two, or the dragon's avoid moving around normally, take them to a vet. Its possible bones were broken.
