There are about sixty wild phenotypes of Cal. king, and many more "designer" forms. The "Banana" Cal. King originated from the Long Beach-Newport form. Even two Cal. Kings of the same similar "looking" phenotype can produce a plethora of different looking offspring in the same clutch, and ESPECIALLY if you don't know the long lineage of the parent stock involved.

I suspect you will get a mixed "grab-bag" of different looking offspring from that breeding, some intermediate between the two, with some looking more like one or the other parents as well, and even maybe a couple that look nothing at all like either one. These are all very realistic possibilities.

You will get some with more yellow and some with more percentage of brown.

bberancies will be from anything with stripes, dashes, dots, bands ect and everything inbetween.

Cool project!

I do just that kind of pairing too.
"Banana" females X a normal banded phase males. Both white and black and yellow /brown.
I get all kinds of looks and even some surprises..

with a huge variance in the amounts of each color (and "muddiness" ) I've even had some display yellow and brown on their bodies and venter but have white labials.

I know. I probably shoulda held onto those and then bred them to each other too...
aahh well....
Hopefully if breeding goes well in a few months, I'll have one or two more.

Yeah, I agree, those are WAY HIGH band counts!, anything 40 or more is very uncommon to see.

Well, I kinda think "band count" is a bit misleading in a way since the "banana" female I use is one from when they just came about on the scene and these guys typically "muddy up a bit and turn yellow/brown rather than black and white.
You may notice the "bands" are incomplete in that they do not cross the belly in entirety. More like elongated blotches, if you will.

True, I see what you're saying there, but still a bunch of semi-rings just the same, and still pretty unique looking though.

What is different with these guys too is the appearance in some individuals of an "eye stripe" kinda like calligaster have.

Yup. Like that one...

Here's one or two others from the same pairings for the O.P. to get an idea of what else to (maybe) expect..
