Rainbow soup picture.......Not

brick1 Nov 18, 2009 11:10 AM

Plan was to take a rainbow soup picture.
It didnt go at all as planned,
Only had 4 of them out to start with, and used your bowl technique dave
But in the end, had snakes going everywhere and no picture.
How you end up with that many snakes in one place sitting still i have no idea dave
So just got some in their tubs
A Colling bred fluffy offspring. Although using the flash, i feel this is a pretty accurate representation of how stunning the colour on this snake is. Compared to a normal colour baby, its like night and day

hopefully a new line of anery, european bred

bit of pearl

one of my crbs, love the striping on him, would be great if it was somehow genetic, i doubt it but you never know. One of his siblings that i have also has the same striping though. Jeff, your the CRB guy, have you seen many crbs with striping like these?

cheers

LOL, been there, done that. My last Rainbow soup pic was an amazing photo shoot. even I was amazed at how many I got out and grouped before they made a break for it. Key is to pull individuals out of tubs that are curled up and don't really move when you set them down. If one is squirmy, PUT IT BACK!! Bowling works fine for a single individual, not for groups. Need to provide enough space so in most cases they are close but not touching. And last but not least, my pic spot is in the center of the room they are in so minimal travel.

Oh, and helps to have something to put escapees into real quick

Nice pics btw!!

Dave,
...How old and how large are those Colombian Rainbow Boas? They have me thinking that they have a LOT of pattern and striping on the sides if they are still young and small.

..How goes the orienteering?

brick1 Nov 20, 2009 04:39 AM

no races until like march now. So just in base training mode. Essentially means, im pushing up to about 110-120miles a week running at the moment in finlands finest weather. Ie somewhere about 0 celsius, where it doesnt know if its raining or snowing. fun fun. Thats the one thing i miss about australia, running in proper weather All worth it though, for when the season is back in full swing.
I xc ski a bit aswell, but even helsinki is crap for that, we get snow, but it doesnt stay around for long enough, it prefers to just turn into solid ice. There is places close to ski, but it still means driving there.

hey jeff, they are actually late 07 animals, and about 400gram range at the moment.
They were fed pretty conservatively at the breeders place, but are definetely growing a lot now.
At what kind os size does those brown colour start to cover up the pattern?
and have you seen any striping that turns out to be genetic in the crbs? as it certainly looks quite different to the average crbs i have seen.

cheers
