Where did my monitor go?

bubbas_owner Nov 18, 2009 04:18 PM

I just bought an argus monitor, and had him shipped to me yesterday. He seemed fine for the first few hours. Then, he burrowed a crazy tunnel system. Now, I haven't seen him in almost a day. Is this normal or should I be worried? I mean, he needs to eat...

Hopefully you've had your cage setup for the week or so at the correct temps, other than that it's completely normal for them to disappear after arriving in a strange new place.
Try dangling some small food items at the entrance to the tunnel tomorrow, if that fails, leave the food in the cool end on something you intend to leave in there & make that your feeding place till your monitor gets use to you.

Like the previous poster said, monitors don't like being moved.

Give it about a week and he'll be out and about. Until then, also like the previous poster said, put the food on the cold side.

But, on an alternate note, if it was healthy and had good weight when you got it, going a few days without food isn't going to be a big deal for it. It's not ideal, but it's also not going to faze it.

Sit back and wait!
