New Woma

Origami78 Nov 20, 2009 10:51 AM

I got my first Woma at the beginning of the week I finally decided to feed him today. I gave him a f/t rat pink and he ate it quickly and then bit himself on the side. I moved him back into his enclosure and I have seen him bite himself a several more times. I have heard they have a strong food response but this is crazy. Do I need to give him a bigger meal?

The meal should leave a slight lump in the midsection. And yes, some woma's seem possessed when it's feeding time. Good luck with yours, I've had mine for three years now and he's a joy.

How big is it? A newborn Woma can eat a fuzzy mouse.

The rat pink is pretty close to the same size as the widest part of the snake. I have help from my wife she has had reptiles for a little over 10 years and snakes for over 5. I just thought it was odd for the snake to start biting himself. I know her Brazilian Rainbow will miss the pray item and bite himself think the pray item is attacking him and bite harder and then get his teeth stuck for a while. I was just not sure if it was normal for Womas.

My error, I thought you said mouse pink. I started my hatchlings on young f/t hamsters. The snakes looked like fat caterpillars. The size prey item is ok for your Womas, and the ARE agressive feeders.
