One of my juvenile Savannah monitors went absolutely crazy after I opened a can a of salmon (for my feeder roaches). Does anyone feed fresh, cooked, or canned fish to their monitors? I would think they could benefit from the Omegas...

My salvator will ONLY eat live minnows.
He was quite normal when I first got him, eating crickets and turkey diet. He escaped and got stressed one day and went off feed and nearly starved to death. I tried everything and he ignored all food. I put live minnows in his water dish and he went crazy for them.
He will eat a dozen a day and he is barely two feet. He won't take them dead or off tongs. He only wants them if he catches them from the water dish.
Anything else, he would starve to death before he touched it. He loves those minnows though.
thank you...that was very useful info. I have a large enough 'water pan' that they are able to dive down into and I might try throwing in a few small fish.
Remember that waters and savannah's are from two different habitats entirely.
Either way, monitors are the buzzards of the reptile world. They are highly variable from individual to individual as to what they prefer, but in general they are often garbage disposals.
