I'm looking for good books on the ecology of African varanids; I love savs, blackthroats and niles, but I just can't keep them right now, so reading about 'em is the next best thing. There's a variety of book on Amazon, but sorting through the crap is difficult. Does anyone know any good books about their natural history? I'll take any good books about monitors, but would love some about the African ones. I've got Dennis Kings book "Monitors: The Biology of Varanid Lizards" and despite the dry writing style, rather enjoyed it. I'd love Bennets book but the only used one I could find they wanted 400 bucks for it...ouch!
I'm not terribly interested in care guides--like I said, I can't keep them here--but I'd love to read about 'em in the wild
