Paint on Waterfall

TeacherJenn Nov 22, 2009 02:54 PM

I've made a waterfall out of expanding foam. I'd like to paint it before I use it. I've been reading about Rust-oleum American Accents Stone textured paint. The TSD and MSDS have a lot of warnings for the vapors while spraying, but the paint appears to be non-toxic once it is dry. Anyone with experience? Ideas? Suggestions for spray paint on the foam?

I have a piece of foam I sprayed with Stone Accents as a test of sorts. No idea on toxicity, but I do have concerns as to how durable it will be over time, especially if water is constantly running over it.

I have seen two foam backgrounds for fish tanks painted with nothing but Drylok Latex Masonry Waterproofer. One was just painted with the stock gray, the other used white Drylok with each coat tinted a slightly differnt color using liquid concrete dye. It looked fantastic.

Definitely non-toxic and no durability concerns with Drylok.
