Does anyone have "Miami Fire Pastels"?

Does anyone have "Miami Fire Pastels"?

They were produced by a guy in Miami in 2003 or 2004. I have one but have never heard about anyone else breeding them at all. Does anyone remember hearing of them?

Maybe a picture would jog my memory. Sounds like a standout line.

We had them but called them simply Fire Pastels
Super red red red.
We had bad luck with them, and havent produced anything since then. They havent slugged nor produced. Weird as they used to be great breeders but have moved three times since then.
Our group is tiny, only 1.2 adults. Maybe this year?

Also, I dont recall selling you one, do you have any
If so send a male down!!
I know Tracy got one or two, but others went to different hobbyists.

I was in Daytona Beach at the big snake party in 2003 or 2004 walking around when a few Boa Guys, friends of mine, came up and told me about this really red Pastel that was for sale at a guys table. I am always looking for great animals to diversify my bloodlines, which is why I bought that Boa. I do not remember the name of the business. I remember I bought this really pink Pastel for $500. IT was a male. I think from the son of the guy who was the one with the table and animals for sale. The son was a dark haired kid, about 19 or 20 years old, that could have been you Mike. I have only met you once, when I knew it was you, but I think you had a little beard going at that time in Tinley Park in 2007 I think. The father was maybe 45-50 and had longish dark hair. I remember hair because of my lack of it. I don't remember the name of the business or the people. I remember where it was though in the big room at Daytona.

I was told by the young guy, perhaps you, that this was the best one and you wouldn't budge on the price. I paid the asking price. Very soon after the Daytona Snake Party, I saw the Miami Fire Boas or maybe just "Fire Boas" advertised by someone that I recognized at the time as being the same people I had gotten mine from a short time before. Maybe Miami was just in the business name. Perhaps that's where I got the "Miami" part of it. I don’t know for sure.

Anyhow, that's all I can recall.

I just googled the term "miami fire boas" with the quotes included, and found two matches. I was right about the year in 2003, and one of the references are to MikeB at M n R Reptiles. I'm not sure if that is the same Mike or not Mike, but whoever it was, is who I had gotten the Boa I have from in 2003 in Daytona at the big snake party.

I also googled again and this time "miami fire boa " with the quotes and the space at the end, and found several other references to the Miami Fire Boas. So I am sure I have the name right. Kathy Ducharme (spelling wrong I think) had one, Jason Aspley had one and a person with the last name Morgan had one as well. That's all I know I guess.

Lol, yep thats me.
I produced 2 litters, that was it.
I sold alot of them at shows and online. I know there was another person selling something similar, but I think they were named a little different with Fire in the name.
The babies came out way nicer then the parents.
I did have snakes at the show, might have been on Zoological Imports table from Miami, Fl. Now that you mention it, I am pretty sure you did pick one up from me at that show. You came by a couple times before you bought it??
I have horrible memory, but if I saw the snake as a baby I would probably recognize it.
That in HYPO is gonna be insane! I really thought that when two "FIRE" boas were bred to each other, something crazy would pop out. I've had very bad luck with the project except for those two litters.

snakesatsunset Nov 23, 2009 04:06 PM

I looked at old old old invoices, and found one for someone that bought 12 of them and had them delivered at the show, he could have vended them too? Either way, I am glad someone capable has them, would be nice to try a new male
Is your male a deep red?I remember seeing a yearling that I sold that looked like a colombian version of a blood boa.

LarM Nov 23, 2009 12:12 PM

I remember them I don't have one though.

boaphile Nov 23, 2009 03:08 PM

This is the female I bred my Miami Fire Pastel male to:

I got this ovulation on video. Two hours of ovulation action. Great footage that will be in the next video if I ever get to it.

FrankM Nov 23, 2009 07:57 PM

boaphile Nov 23, 2009 08:11 PM

LOL. Nah Jeff you got it all wrong. Cataracts must be settin in Makin the screen seem light grey right? Besides that must be the light phase i'm sure. Right Frank ! :P

boaphile Nov 24, 2009 11:30 AM

I actually haven't seen that many of them. The snakesatsunset guy would be the one to ask about them. I only have the one and the Hypo offspring he produced. The light ashy gray animal Frank posted is on the other end of the color spectrum from what my original male looked like.
