New rack set ups

alstotton Nov 23, 2009 04:25 PM

Decided to spend some time and money on new housing this season ,as opposed to half a dozen more new snakes

I love a challenge and enjoyed converting/making the racks suitable for snakes.Nice thing was I only stumbled across the racks/boxes by chance!!.

Wow its certainly much easier with lite weight racks on castors than with my old heavy melamine bad boys.

Tubs size : 55cm x 42cm x16cm.

Thanks for lookin'

That is a sweet setup!

In all my days I've never seen a poorer placement of a water bowl!

Good catch...

with a little less respect, what the hell are you talking about! a nice clean enclosure, well setup, a clean waterbowl in the cool end, i suppose he could have put the water bowl on top of the tv but i dont think that would work.

so, again, what the hell are you talkin about......

ps al, where did u get ur racks from

I think he's refering to the newspaper picture on which the water bowl is placed. Right?

loxocemus Nov 24, 2009 05:46 AM

aah sorry dude

boobies

hermanbronsgeest Nov 24, 2009 08:27 AM

The subject title may be a little confusing as well...

COW! That is the hardest I've laughed in a long time. I just had a mental image of you sitting at your computer and smacking yourself in the head, disgusted with yourself that you didn't see it sooner, and then ever so eloquently speaking aloud:

"ahh, sorry dude....boobies."

Priceless.

Nice job Al. Got any more pics detailing construction? Would especially like to see how you ran the heating?...and how about your reading list too?

alstotton Nov 24, 2009 11:01 AM

I didn't get any pics whilst in construction. But the heating is provided by Lucky Reptile heat strips 6 x 15",they're the perfect size and are self adhesive which is a nice bonus. All ten strips are run through a Habistat Thermostat.

Thanks Al, guess my biggest question is, how do you situate the heat strips relative to the wood/plastic? Is it in a recess on metal or just stuck on the shelf and in contact with the tubs, er what?...inquiring minds want to know

...messed up the link.

Looks like a fun project putting those racks together.

pyromaniac Nov 24, 2009 10:26 PM

I read this entire thread thinking there was going to be a comment about how the water bowl was too small, or too easy to tip over, or something of that nature. Ah, well, testosterone is in full bloom here, for sure! LOL!

My snakes get a bowl big enough to get into. The bowl in the rack system looks awfully tiny and easy to tip over.

RichH Nov 25, 2009 01:30 PM

For some it may be high but, in retrospect, for some it may be low

Tony D Dec 03, 2009 08:44 AM

Dude this entire thread was a hoot but that comment sent coffee up my nose! All kidding aside Al looks to have awesome and well maintained setups. Kudos for that!
