Enough food?

I have a baby ball python male born in july of 09. I've been feedhing him one adult mouse at a time. He acts like he is still hungry a few days later. I had some frozen mice thawing out in the sink. I was preparing to feed my monitor lizards and I noticed he came out of his hallow log and was acting very intrested in the rodent smells that must have been filling the room. So I figured what the heck and fed him another mouse and he ate it instantly. Should I feed two mice instead of one for one this young? I go by the girth of the snake and he can EASILY eat a adult mouse.

I got him from pro-exotics I gotta say he is a really good first ball python for me. He eats frozen thawed without any hesitation. I was expecting to have to struggle to get him to eat. I don't pick him up and I give him all kinds of hiding spots and temperatures to choose from.

That is not a problem feeding two mice i do it all the time if the snake can eat them, the snake knows if it full and you also want to make sure it is comfortable after eating two, dont over feed make sure the snake is a healthy weight not over weight because a snake with to much body fat has health problem in the end this goes out to power feeding its good to keep fed but think of the snake.Fat leads to respiratory problem kidney among others.

I feed babies twice a week for the first weeks of their lives. I start with hopper mice. After they are over 100-120 grams, and can handle bigger mice I switch them to bigger size mice and feed them once a wee. Of course, each baby is an individual and grows a a different rate.

If I'm raising baby pythons as breeders, I feed them 2-3 times a week for the first 10-12 months!

I suggest feeding ball pythons for their first year one prey item every 5-7 days. I also suggest switching your ball python to rats, starting with hopper rats to rat pups (weaned) Cheaper in the long run as you won't be feeding 2-5 retired mice breeders by the time the snake is a year old.

i feed mine as much as they want to eat. but you should start to convert yours to rats when you can. feeding several mice at a feeding can be costly.
